Malaysia Clinch Two Golds In World Blind Bowls
KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysia bagged two gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the
2009 World Blind Bowls Championship which came to a close in Melbourne today.
The golds came from Mohd Zamrie Hasan in men's singles and Nor Hayati Sarnoh in women's singles B1
category.
Both of them, who are members of the Malaysian elite paralympic squad, powered their way to lift a
silver in mixed doubles.
Mohd Zamrie and Nor Hayati, who collected 11 points, were merely two points behind the eventual
winners, Margaret Cusker and Michael Worden of England.
Mohd Noorhafizan Ahmad Jais and Maznah Arbik contributed a bronze in mixed category B2 mixed
doubles.
However, Mohd Zainuri Othman and Sharifahnur Sharfuddin (B3 category) were a pale shadow of
Australian, South African, Hong Kong, Israel, England, Scotland, New Zealand and Canadian bowlers.
Despite the setback, Malaysia fared better that their outing in South Africa four years ago when
they walked away with only two bronze.
